Chester Winfred Nolen (C.W.), 94 of Collinsville, VA, passed away on March 15 2018 at his home with his loving family surrounding him. He was born on July 11, 1923 to the late Charles William Nolen and Martha Lillian Taylor Nolen.
Chester was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a dedicated member of The Smith River Church of the Brethren. He worked for Coca Cola and retired from Wometco Food Services. C.W. was a quiet man and a true gentleman. He was a great father and a devoted husband. Essie was the love of his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Christine DeHart, Frances Marie Daugherty and Lillian Josephine Sands; and four brothers, William Taylor Nolen, George Franklin Nolen, Russell Tazwell Nolen, and Curtis Brown Nolen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Essie
Wood Nolen of the home; daughter, Denise Taylor and husband Ronnie; son, Ronnie Dale Nolen and wife Angela; two step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Gilley officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park with military rites to be performed by the Martinsville and Henry County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or to the American Legion Veterans Organization P.O. Box 77 Woolwine, VA 24185.
