

Curtis Mitchell Jones, 93, of Abingdon Place, 149 Executive Court, Danville, formerly of Fieldale, died Thursday April 19, 2012 at VA Medical Center in Durham, NC. He was born in Henry on September 21, 1918 to the late Cornelius Jones and Annie Thelma Prillaman Jones Childress. He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired after more than thirty years as owner and operator of TV Service Co. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and CYF leader.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Kelly Jones.
He is survived by one brother, Bobby “Bob” Childress and his wife, Dixie of Mebane, NC., a special niece, Debbie Desmond and her daughter, Tiffany Marshall of Charlottesville, one special granddaughter, Sarah Brimm of Fieldale, two sisters-in-law, Ruby Kelly of Collinsville and Joy Kelly of Waynesboro and his church family of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday April 22, 2012 at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with Rev. Tim Mills and Bob Childress officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
