

David was preceded in death by his parents, John Calvin Stovall and Frances Parsons Stovall; a sister, Daisy Lackey and a great granddaughter, Mia Whorley.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Davis Stovall, daughters, Angela Whorley (Larry) of Bassett and Joanna Stovall of the residence; son, Todd David Stovall (Lisa) of Palmyra; sister, Ann Martin (Druie) of Bassett; eight grandchildren, Kendall Whorley, Dustin Whorley (Briana Holland), Chris Martin, Mary Emma Mullins, David Mullins, Jakob Simacek, Lily Simacek and William Simacek; one great grandchild, Kenley Via; the family will greet another soon, Lainey Whorley.
David retired from DuPont in 1994 after 33 years during which he held management positions in Martinsville, Athens, Georgia and Isfahan, Iran. After retiring he held consulting positions in logistics.
David was a member of the Henry County Public Service Authority Board for 31 years. For many years he was active in politics and a member of the Henry County Democratic Party. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
David was a whole body donor to Wake Forest University School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to:
