

Dewey Turner, Jr. 86, of Collinsville, died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Martinsville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Henry County on August 14, 1926 to the late, Richard Dewey Turner, Sr., and Alphia Hutcherson Turner. He served in the 43ed Air Repair Squadron as a Sergeant of the United Sates Air Force during World War II and received his Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Metal (Germany) and World War II Victory Ribbon. He was retired after more than fifty years as a Building Contractor and was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Norman and Virginia Johnson and one brother, William Turner.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Mitchell Turner of the home, two daughters, Glenda Malzi of Thaxton, and Mona Lea Turner of Collinsville, one son, Philip Turner of Collinsville, three sisters, Elizabeth Biggs of Martinsville, Shirley Mason of Axton and Gladys Harmon of Ayer Massachusetta, one brother, Carlyle Turner of Cascade, three grandchildren, Scott Turner of Pelham, North Carolina, Brandy Powers of Fieldale and Brett Turner of Collinsville and two Great Grandchildren, Cort and Jackson Powers.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Tuesday June 25, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Rev. Larry Cheek and Mark Ivey officiating. Entombment will be in the Roselawn Abby with Flag Presentation performed by the Martinsville-Henry County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
