Douglas Tyler Watson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Staff Sergeant Douglas Tyler Watson on May 17, 2024 in Bethesda, MD.
Douglas was born on November 2, 1990 in Eden, N.C. to the late Douglas Wayne Watson and Sandra Austin Clifton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester King; grandmother, Mona Brooks; great grandmother, Evelyn Gilkeson; great grandfather, Bernard Gilkeson and favorite uncle, Robert Irvin Gilkeson.
Douglas was a 2009 graduate of Patrick County High School and has served in the United States Marine Corps for the past 14 years and was currently stationed at Camp LeJeune Marine Corps Base, N.C.
In addition to his mother, Douglas is survived by daughters, Annalyn Louise Watson and Athena Marie Slaymaker; sister, Whitney Anne Garcia (Alex); brothers, Travis James Koester (Brooke) and Chase Dwayne Watson (Esme); nieces, Phoenix Clifton and Madilyn Koester; nephew, Ryder Brown; stepfather, Albert Clifton; stepbrothers, Michael Clifton and Christopher Day (Melissa); grandmothers, Evelyn King and Shirley Martin; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA .
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Orchard Drive Baptist Church, 228 Orchard Drive, Bassett, VA with Tressi Sanchez officiating.
The family request in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Orchard Drive Baptist Church.
