In Loving Memory of Edwin O. Spence
Edwin, beloved father, avid fisherman, NASCAR enthusiast, Folgers coffee aficionado, and all-round champion of life’s quirks, has cast his final line and reeled in his last big catch. With heavy hearts and laughter-filled memories, we bid farewell to a man whose spirit was as resilient as his fishing line.
Eddie, known for his love of the outdoors, had a knack for patience both on and off the water. His gentle guidance and unwavering love shaped the lives of his two sons, Jason, and Steven, who will forever cherish the moments spent casting lines and chasing dreams alongside their dad.
A true connoisseur of the open road, Eddie’s passion for NASCAR was only matched by his love for his classic station wagon – a trusty vessel that carried the family on countless adventures, filled with excitement and classic country songs.
Despite a bad hip that would make most men throw in the towel, Eddie was the epitome of resourcefulness, tackling any challenge with a smile and a cup of Folgers in hand. From fixing leaks to mowing lawns, he never let anything hold him back, not even the most stubborn of riding lawnmowers.
Steven holds dear the cherished memories of riding on his dad’s lap as they navigated the yard together, chasing lightning bugs under the warm summer night sky. It was in those simple moments that father and son forged bonds that would last a lifetime.
Eddie was not just a master of the great outdoors; he was also a savvy entrepreneur, blazing trails as the co-founder of a trucking company, Transportation Technology. He had gained valuable experience for many years at his previous company, Virginia Carolina Freight Lines. His determination and entrepreneurial spirit inspired all who know him, leaving a legacy of hard work and ingenuity.
With his warm smile and quirky charm, Eddie touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though he may have cast his final line, his spirit will forever ripple through the hearts of those who loved him.
As we raise our cups of Folgers in salute, let us remember Eddie not with tears, but with laughter and gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. Tight lines and smooth roads, dear friend, and father. Until we meet again.
Rest in peace, Edwin Spence. You have reeled in a lifetime of love, and your legacy will forever swim in the waters of our hearts.
