Elmer Lee Greer

Born January 19, 1948, he was a son of the late Reggie Garrett Greer and Betty Hutcherson Greer. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, James, Frank, Clarence and John Greer, and a sister Mary Frances Greer.

Elmer was retired from American Furniture Company after 45 years of service and was currently working for Bassett Furniture Industries. He loved the outdoors, garden work, and he was an avid fisherman. Elmer attended Fort Trial Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years Patsy Murray Greer, a daughter Angela Harris of Axton, his sister Shirley Ann Radford of Collinsville, a special brother-in-law James Radford of Bassett, his brother Jesse Greer of Bassett, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and his aunt Edna Martin of Bassett.

The funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Dr. Joey McNeil and the Rev. Tony Beach officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the food pantry of Fort Trial Baptist Church, 170 Oak Level Rd, Bassett, VA 24055.
