So very sorry to hear of the passing of Eugene Smith. May his wife and daughter and family find comfort and peace during this time. Eugene was a humble person and an exemplary educator who cared deeply for his students, teachers, and staff. Eugene's quiet nature will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
I will miss seeing him and his wife walking the track at the Y.

Eugene will be sorely missed as I can’t remember him ever being negative about anyone - he was always pro-education and worked hard to help Henry County students reach their maximum potential! To know Eugene was to love and respect his insight and intelligence. Love and prayers for him and his family!

Lynda Adkins and I went to Northern Virginia to a conference. Eugene was our assistant principal at the time. It turned out that our hotel was in an unsavory area of town. He teased us about this little adventure many times.
He was always approachable and kind. His smile and warm heartedness often brighten a day. He was one of my favorite administrators. He will be greatly missed.

Loved working with Eugene at HCPS. He was the kindest gentleman with the driest sense of humor. Always laughing and making everyone feel good. He will be missed and my love and prayers go to Janice, Amy and his grandchildren. May God bless you in this difficult time. ❤️🙏🏼❤️

Mr. Smith was my Assistant Principle and my Mom was his secretary when he was a Principal. I loved Mr. Smith. He was so personable and caring. I would see him at the YMCA walking with his wife every time I went. Even though I know he had a lot of health problems he was always concerned about other people and how they were doing. He even went to visit my Mom when she was in the Nursing Home. He will truly be missed. Rest In Peace Mr. Smith. ❤️
