

He was born May 13, 1933, in Bassett to the late Edgar and Elizabeth Oakes Amos. Franklin was retired from the Henry County Schools as an Auto Mechanics teacher where he taught for thirty years. He was also the owner and operator of Affordable Clothing for the past twenty-eight years until his health declined. Frank was of the Baptist faith. He loved children and spent a large part of his time working with the Boy Scouts. Frank’s ways were simple and his actions were filled with love and kindness.
Dad, We are going to miss you, but we know that Heaven has surely gained a great man. Your hard work ethic was tireless and you always strived to do your best. There has never lived a more sincere and loving person than our father who is now safe and secure in Heaven.
In addition to his parents Frank is preceded in death by four brothers; Johnny Amos, Buford Amos, Charlie Amos, and Wilbur Amos.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Frances Byrd Amos of the home, son Michael S. Amos and wife Andrea of Bassett; son Timothy F. Amos and wife Autumn of Houston, Texas; and daughter Jennifer Williams and Douglas of McLeansville, North Carolina, grandchildren, Amanda Higgins and husband Rob of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Brandon Amos of Bassett, great-grandchildren, Riley Higgins, Lillian Higgins and Mason Duncan, step-grandchildren Darlene Smith, Lauren Williams, and Randall Williams. step great-grandchildren, Steven Roberts and Emma Williams, brothers, Otis Amos of Virginia Beach, Edward Amos of Martinsville, Hubert Amos, Gautier, Mississippi, sisters, Ruby Martin of Fieldale, Frances Loher of Burgaw, North Carolina, Evelyn Allen of Davis, California, Madelyn Holthausen of Collinsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor and Nephew Ricky Bates officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Park in Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home, in Bassett.
