George Albert Joyce

George Albert Joyce, 88, of Fieldale, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Henry County, February 22, 1929 to James Andrew Joyce and Mattie Pearl Tilley Joyce. He served in the Army and retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 33 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Carlene Via, Martenia Nester and Virginia Gibbs; nine brothers, James Randolph Joyce, Buford Woodrow Joyce, Roy Edward Joyce, O. D. Joyce, Sanford Terry Joyce, Harvey W. Joyce, Thomas B. Joyce, Franklin Delano Joyce and Bobby Joe Joyce. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel Koger Joyce of the home; daughter, Vicki Joyce Turner and husband, Ron of Conway, SC; son, Jody Albert Joyce and wife Sandra of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Jim Turner and wife Amy, Jason Turner, Andrew Joyce and Joshua Joyce; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacob Turner, sister, Vera Whitlow, and brother Leon Joyce. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett and other times at the home. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Pastor Larry Cheek officiating.
