George Kenneth "Kingfish" Stevenson Sr.

Born July 24, 1929, in Mercer County, WV, he was a son of the late James Thomas Stevenson and Mary Ellen Smith Stevenson. Also preceding him in death was his wife Pearlie Ellen Marrs Stevenson and a grandson, Ray Franklin Durham Jr.

He worked for Stanley Furniture Company for 20 years.

Surviving are three sons, George Kenneth Stevenson Jr. of Leatherwood, Donald Ray Stevenson and his wife, Janice of Ridgeway, Bradley Thomas Stevenson and special friend, Rena Keffer of Martinsville, five daughters, Georgia Ellen Nunley and special friend, Jose Sebastian of Martinsville, Mary Elice Durham and husband, David T. of Patrick Springs, Barbara Ann Durham and husband, Ray F. of Bassett, Judy Stevenson Harrison and husband, Dale of Rocky Mount, Patsy Sue Stevenson and special friend, Heather Merriman of Mansfield, OH, 5 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 2 step-grandsons, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandson.

The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, January 28, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ with interment in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. prior to the service. The family will also receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett Chapel.
