Harry James Miller Sr., 75, of Martinsville, Va., formerly of Thornwood, N.Y. went to be with his Savior and Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Harry was born in New Brighton, PA on November 17, 1943 to the late Helen and Harold Miller.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dorothy; and, three devoted children; Sheri (Bruce Phillips), Harry Jr. (Martha) and Keith (Dorothy). Harry has also been blessed by seven grandchildren who survive him; Matthew Phillips, and Nicole Noye (Timothy), Kristen, Jessica, and Ryan Miller, Grace, and Anabelle Miller. Also surviving are his two brothers; Kenneth (Brenda), and Ray (the late Sandy), and two nephews; John (Debbie) and Steven and niece Julie. One great nephew; Owen Miller and many cousins too numerous to mention.
Harry would also want you to know that he had many “adopted” children and “grandchildren” as well: Diego Ortiz, PJ and Abby Barner, Samantha and Melissa Kokinchak and some great and loyal friends.
Harry worked as a computer analysis at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for 50 years and had never been sick. In the church he was an elder, sang in the choir and participated in a men’s Bible study. In the community was a Boy Scout leader, volunteer at the elementary school, and elected Water Commissioner. He loved God and always sought to live what he believed. He loved gardening, history, trees, birds, clouds and his beloved dog, Teddy. He tucked his wife into bed every night even while he was sick. Harry was member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church.
We want to thank the King’s Grant staff, as well as those who loved and cared for Harry during the latter years of his life.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22 at 2:00 pm at Victory Chapel, Kings Grant Retirement Community, followed by brief refreshments in the Multipurpose Room. Since Harry was passionate for a cure to be found for Cystic Fibrosis, any donations may be made to www.cff.org
