Hattie Belle Witt

Hattie Bell Deal Witt, 83, of Eden, NC, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Morehead Hospital in Eden. She was born in Patrick County on May 18, 1928 to Harrison Deal and Bertha Spencer Deal. She was a member of People’s Church of the Living God in Bassett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Witt; a son, Bobby Witt; a granddaughter, Jenna Dean; two sisters, Bertha Mize and Vera Gilley; three brothers, Robert, David and Henry Deal.

Surviving are six daughters, Lula Sheckells of Eden, NC, Mary Edmonds of Ridgeway, Shirley Pugh of Nathalie, Betty Holloman of St. Paul, NC, Debra Dean of Ridgeway and Patricia Pruitt of Bassett; four sons, Jerry Witt of Eden, NC, Andy Witt of Ridgeway, Ray Witt of Eden, NC and Danny Witt of Navarre, FL; two sisters, Rosie Craig and Hazel Gilley of Bassett; four brothers, Sammy Deal, Joe Deal and Daniel Deal, all of Bassett and Jessie Deal; twenty two grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at People’s Church of the Living God with the Rev. Dwayne Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Deal Family Cemetery in Patrick County.

The family will receive friends Monday (today) from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at People’s Church of the Living God.
