Helen L. Hairston

Helen Louis Hairston, age 89, departed this life, Friday, April 2, 2021 at her home on 74 Parkwood Court, Collinsville, VA. She was born August 24, 1931 to the late Grant Hairston and Kathleen Hairston. She was united in marriage to Henry Lee Hairston. To this union was born eight children. She leaves to mourn her loss, five daughters; Sandra (Tony) Hairston, Mira Hairston Sims, of Upper Marboro, Maryland, Emily Hairston of Martinsville VA, Linda (Dwayne)Taylor of Greenville, SC, Denise Hunt of Martinsville, VA , Henry (Hester) Hairston, Jr., Ray (Cheryl) Hairston, Mark Hairston, all of Martinsville, VA. Adopted daughter, Rebeca Turner, foster children, Tracey Brandon and Travon Brandon; 14 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; sister, Ethel Manns, brother; Leon Hairston, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was a member of Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church. Mama we thought we would have you a little while longer but God knows best, we love you and we will truly miss you. A Homegoing Service will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Dr., Bassett, VA on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service.
