Born in Franklin County, March 27, 1940, he was a son of the late Gladys Brown Byrd and Reginald Dick Byrd. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Joyce Hodge and Peggy Tuck, and brother-in-law Frank Amos.
Jack was a graduate of Franklin County High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his sisters Frances Amos of Collinsville, Betty Streapy and husband Ed of Front Royal, Norma Jean Byrd of Rocky Mount, brothers-in-law W.D. Tuck of Rocky Mount, Lloyd Hodge of Collinsville, and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County, will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount with Kelly G. Ratcliff officiating.
