

Born May 22, 1931, in Patrick County, he was a son of the late Bessie S. Turner and Vanious Turner. Also preceding him in death were three foster brothers, Charlie Bryant, Arthur Bryant, and Raymond Bryant. Jack was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War, and was a member of Blackberry Baptist Church. After his retirement, he enjoyed life to the fullest with his beloved wife and children, and spending time in his garage with all of his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bertha G. Turner of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and James E. Semones of Rocky Mount; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Neki C. Turner of Bassett; two brothers, Ernest Turner and his wife, Nellie of Winston-Salem, NC, D. V. Turner, Jr. and his wife, Hattie of Bassett; four grandchildren, Leslie S. Hodges, Thomas E. Semones, Austin L. Turner and Hailey R. Turner; two great-grandchildren, Gavin H. Hodges and Creed G. Hodges, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 11 A.M. at Blackberry Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. G. H. Vaughan, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Blackberry Baptist Church or to Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett.
