James Herbert Hodges

James Herbert Hodges, 84, of Bassett, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at his home. He was born on October 19, 1930 in Rocky Mount, VA, the son of the late John Pete Hodges and Cora Lee Hodges. James was employed by Stanley Furniture Company for 39 years as a supervisor and was a member of Stanleytown United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Stone, Mildred Cassell and Mattie Seay and two brothers, John Pete Hodges, Jr. and Eugene Hodges.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Spencer Hodges of the home, one son, Danny Hodges and his wife, Kathy of Bassett, one sister, Sue H. Bryant of Bassett, one granddaughter, Stephanie Auker and her husband, Jeremy of Charlotte, NC and three great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Carsyn and Anson Auker.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Stanleytown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carilion Franklin Hospice, 160 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
