James Russell Newman

James "Jimmy" Russell Newman, age 74, of Galax, Virginia passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, Virginia. He was born in Bassett, Virginia on July 7, 1946 to the late Melva Marie Shelton Newman and Russell David Newman James is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Pamela "Pam" Norman Newman, his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn "Katy" Newman Gray and John Albert Gray. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles Timothy "Tim" Norman and Barbara King Norman as well as his nephew Jon Michael Norman and niece Jessica Oakley Norman. He also leaves behind several other family members. Jimmy was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps at the Marine Corp Air Base in Da Nang, Vietnam from 1967-1968, during the Tet Offensive.
