James Curtis Shelton, age 87, of Bassett, VA passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Mr. Shelton was born on March 20, 1931 in Henry County, VA to the late Jerry Shelton and the late Carrie Ethel Crews Shelton. He had lived his entire life in Henry County where he was employed at Dupont until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and earned two Bronze Stars. He enjoyed music, fishing and loved life.

Mr. Shelton is survived by one brother, Archie Edward Shelton, Sr.,;a sister-in-law, Opal Shelton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Ruby Parcell and Melva Newman; three brothers, Jack Daniel Shelton, Robert Clarence “Bobby” Shelton, and William Tell “Billy” Shelton.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Quarom President Gordon Hodnett officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
