

.James Wright Yale, 71, of Bassett, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Martinsville. He was born in Henry County, October 26, 1944 to John Elmer Yale and Elsie Ross Wright Yale. He was a 1963 graduate of Bassett High School and received his associate’s degree from Danville Technical Institute. James was employed by DuPont for 29 years and was later self-employed in computer drafting. He was a member of Fort Trial Christian Church, Woodmen of the World, Oak Level Ruritan Club, Fairystone Campers Club and was very active with the Bassett High School Band.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katie Yale Dillon and his brother, Richard Allen Yale.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann Hudson Yale of the home; two daughters, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Yale Cox of Sophia, NC and Stephanie Yale Turner of Bassett; two grandchildren, Hayleigh Brooke Turner and Nathan Kyle Turner, two nephews and his mother-in-law, Irene Fulcher Hudson of Bassett.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett and other times at the home.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Milford Witt officiating. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
