Joann Thompkins

Joann Crowder Thompkins, 71, of Bassett, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Stanleytown Health Care Center where she was a resident. She was born in McDowell County, West VA on May 4, 1939, to George R. and Nettie Mae Hughes Crowder. Joann was a private duty health care provider and was a member of Friendly Worship Center, Hwy 87, in Ridgeway.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert William Thompkins; four sisters, Edith Boshell, Mamie Kendrick, Susie Stevens and Effie Mitchell; and one brother, Robert L. Crowder.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue Thompkins of Martinsville and Ann Leos of Eden, NC; one sister, Zona Savolskis of Patrick Springs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Funeral service will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Friendly Worship Center in Ridgeway, with Pastor Arlene Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.

The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Friendly Worship Center.
