Juanita Ann Hamby Shelton

Born in Shoal Creek, NC, April 26, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Readle and Bonnie Guthrie Hamby. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Alec, Leonard, Billy and Kenneth Hamby.

She retired from C. P. Films and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jack Daniel (J.D.) Shelton of the home, daughters, Deborah Amos, Susan Derreberry, and Vickie Cave all of Bassett, a son Gary Shelton of Bassett, three brothers, Carrol Hamby of Marietta, GA, Danny and Wayne Hamby, both of Murphy, NC, sisters, Regina Stiles, Betty Jo Hamby Beavers, Lucy Ware, and Kay Whorley, all of Murphy, NC, nine grandchildren, Brandon Amos, Melissa Red, Tonya Allen, Jeff Shelton, Ashley Trent, Jennifer Derreberry, Keith Clark, Joshua Lovins, J. V. Lovins, and eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Christan, Nikki, Chase, Chloe, Logan, Tristan, Olivia.

The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Don Reynolds and Pastor Bobby Rakes officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Rest Cemetery, Bassett. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
