Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Martin, 69 of Bassett, Va.,went to be with his Lord May 30th after a battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1955 in Patrick County to the late Edna Craig Martin and Oscar Martin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Lonnie (Angie) Martin; sister, Sandra Akers; brother-in-laws, Olin Pendleton, Edward Haynes
Kenny worked in Maintenance for over 40 years. He enjoyed golfing, camping, hiking, watching NASCAR races, NFL football games. He loved attending soccer games to watch Donovan and Shay play. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church. And he loved spending time with his Church family.
He is survived by: his wife, Ann Chitwood Martin; his stepson, Michael (Jennifer)Hollandsworth; his bonus children; Donovan Lewis, Shay Wade; his sisters; Shirley Pendleton, Peggy Haynes, Betty Martin, his brother; Mike(Gayle) Martin. Brother-in-law; Dewey Penn, Jr. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. And his faithful companion, Destiny.
A celebration of life will be at New Vision Baptist Church on June 10, 2024 at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in memory of Kenny, to New Vision Baptist Church Van Fund, 4161 Fork Mountain Rd., Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
