Obituary of Kenneth Elmer Pilson Sr.
Kenneth Elmer Pilson, Sr., 90, of Ridgeway, Va. passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was born in Henry County, July 24, 1933 to Oscar Pilson and Agnes Thomas Pilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Edmonds Pilson and their daughter, Cheryl Pilson Freeman; brothers, Clarence Pilson and Donald Pilson. Mr. Pilson is survived by daughters, Sandy P. McCray (John) and Denise P. Belcher (Jerry); son, Kenneth “Kenny” E. Pilson, Jr. (Charlotte); son-in-law, Jimmy Freeman; sister, Annette Shelton; eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pilson served in the U.S. Army. He retired as a quality manager at Pluma. He loved to play golf and go to the beach. He also loved listening to bluegrass, gospel and country music. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Bassett. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Doug Ramsey. Interment will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park. Family suggest memorial donations to be made to First Baptist Church of Bassett, P.O. Box 557 Bassett, VA 24055. Collins Funeral Home is serving the family.
