Mary Smith Biggs

Mary Ellen Smith Biggs, 67, of 217 Ms Turner Road, Bassett, died Thursday March 8, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Bassett on January 22, 1945 to the late Delmar Roscoe Smith and Charity “Nettie” Stout Smith of Bassett. She was retired after more than twenty years of service with Bassett- Walker, where she worked in packing. Mary was a member of Charity Free Will Baptist Church in Bassett. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one daughter, Charity Annette Biggs, and one son, Rusty Dean Biggs. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, William “David” Biggs of the home, one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa B. and Scott Cassady of Bassett, one son, David Richard Biggs of Bassett , one sister, Julie Jones of Bassett, one brother, John Smith of Bassett and one granddaughter, Brooke Nicole Cassady of Bassett. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home of Bassett with Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating. Interment will follow in the Stout Family Cemetery on Orchard Dr, Bassett. The family will receive friends 6-8p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter at 1500 Hollandworth Road, Bassett.
