Mary Ruth Robertson Shelton

Mary Ruth Shelton, age 83 of Collinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2014. She was born in Martinsville, Virginia on May 10, 1931 to the late Ernest and Ruth Robertson. Also preceding her in death was her husband Thomas Jack Shelton and three sisters, Barbara R. Wright, Carolyn R. Via and Cathryn R. Smith.

Mrs. Shelton was dedicated to her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She also loved her church and neighbors. She was an outgoing person, always jolly until her sickness. She always wanted to do for others. Mrs. Shelton was a part of the hostess committee at her church and volunteered with the American Red Cross at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She retired from DuPont after 30 years of service.

Surviving are her loving twin daughters, Jackie S. Horsley and her husband Paul of Collinsville and Pamela S. Hale and her husband Bill of Rocky Mount, Virginia, three special grandchildren, Kelly R. Horsley, Chad Horsley and wife Mandy and Brian Hale; four beloved great-grandchildren, Brittany R. Dillard, Brandon Hale, Peyton Horsley and Rachel Horsley.

The funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Reverend Larry Cheek and Mark Ivey officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville and other times at the home of Mrs. Shelton.
