Mildred Burney Stanley

Mrs. Mildred Burney Stanley, age 91, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018. Mrs. Stanley was born September 10, 1926 in Rockingham, NC, a daughter of the late John Edwin Walters and Maggie Mae Cox Walters. She lived her earlier life in North Carolina and later moved to Patrick Springs, VA. She was first married to Braxton Robert “Bob” Burney, Sr., and later married Reverend Charles W. Stanley, both who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Annie Gerety, three sisters, Mary Prevatte, Nola O’Quinn, Ann Lambert, two brothers, Paul Walters and Don Walters. Mrs. Stanley is survived by a daughter, Janice Lawson and husband, Emmett of Ridgeway, VA, one son, Braxton Robert Burney, Jr. and wife, Vickie of High Point, NC, one stepdaughter, Elva S. and husband, Reverend Greg Martin of Patrick Springs, VA, four grandchildren, Emily Nelson and husband Erik, Thomas Lawson and wife Heather, Travis Burney and wife Lolly, Brooklynn and husband Reverend Wade Foster, nine great- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Catherine Nelson, Isaiah and Chloe Burney, Katie and Simon Lawson, Elyse,Valerie and Gavin Foster, and two step great-grandchildren Avery and Evan Foster. Three loving sisters-in-law, Helen Walters, Rachel Walters and Luine Brisson also survive her. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Living Waters Outreach Ministries, 6500 Greensboro Road, Ridgeway, VA with Reverend Veronica Venable officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service at 11:00 am.
