

Born March 9, 1926, in Patrick County, he was a son of the late Emmett Green Adams and Posie Joyce Adams. Also preceding him in death was a sister Christine A. Koger and brothers Robert, Roy and Irvin Adams.
Oscar was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Oak Hill Academy, received his Bachelor’s degree from William Carey University, and his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. A Baptist minister for forty years he served Hurley Baptist Church, Hurley, Mississippi, Hill Memorial Baptist, Koehler, Greenwood Baptist in Axton, Fontaine Baptist, Ridgeway, Inwood Baptist in Raleigh, NC, Chesterfield Baptist, Richmond, and retired from Axton Baptist Church. He was also the interim pastor for Furnace Creek Baptist Church, Rocky Mount.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice Mofield Miles Adams, a daughter, Jennifer A. Stacks (Mike) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, two sons, Teddy Adams (Vicki) of Greer, SC, Mitch Adams (Gail) of Asheboro, NC, seven sisters, Nina A. Spencer of Fieldale, Irene A. Philpott of Bassett, Aileen A. Handy of Martinsville, Louise A. Campbell of Fieldale, Mary A. Stone, Betty A. Clark, Brenda A. Bishop all of Bassett, six grandchildren, Amy Fletcher (Jason), Amanda Adams, Stephen Stacks (Elizabeth), Philip Stacks, Katherine Stacks, Alexander Stacks, and two great-grandchildren, Eden and Caroline Fletcher.
The funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, October 31, 2014, at Blackberry Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Anderson and Pastor Eric Kieselbach officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Martinsville and Henry County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
