

Born in Bassett November 17, 1928, he was a son of the late Larkin McKinley Stone and Mattie Sue Wright Stone. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Lee Morse and brothers Clarence D. Stone, Herman T. Stone and Warren G. Stone.
Ralph was a tank commander in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War, and retired from the Army after 21 years of service. He also worked for Morgan Motors in Collinsville, and then the LOF Glass Plant in Laurinburg, NC.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Susie Stone of Greensboro, sisters Virginia Williamson of Williamsburg, Elsie Perkins of Portsmouth, Doris Newton of Danville, and Dorothy Freeman of Greensboro, NC, brothers Roy D. Stone of Daytona Beach, FL, Bernard R. Stone of Bassett, and Ken Stone of Axton.
The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Tommy Basham officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. prior to the service.
