Reva Virginia Shelton Prillaman

Reva Virginia Shelton Prillaman, age 89, of Kings Grant died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.

She was born January 24, 1921 in Mount Airy to Lee Hurley Shelton and Lillian Frances Wagoner Shelton, both deceased.

Mrs. Prillaman was a charter member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church where she worked 18 years as the secretary. She had also worked at Bassett Walker as a secretary and had been a teacher’s aide at Collinsville Primary for 10 years, retiring at age 84.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Grayson Prillaman.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Bailey and husband, Dr. Robert Bailey, of Birmingham, Alabama; son, John Prillaman and wife, Jan, of Greensboro, North Carolina; sisters, Blondena Rorrer of Collinsville and Barbara Patrick of Rome, Georgia; brother, John “Chuck” Shelton of Fall Branch, Tennessee; granddaughter, Mary Courtney Bailey of Durham, North Carolina; grandson, Robert Kevin Bailey and wife, Mimi Liu and great-grandson, Owen Robert all of Arlington, Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews; and her five faithful caregivers.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Bailey and Reverend Jim Hewitt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
