Roy Christopher “Chris” Meeks, 44, of Martinsville, died Saturday, November 9, 2013. He was born in Martinsville on February 14, 1969, to Diana Martin Bailey. He was a welder by trade and worked in construction most of his life. He was presently employed with Mod-U-Kraf Homes LLC., of Rocky Mount. Chris enjoyed music and nature.

In addition to his mother is his life companion of twenty seven years, Joyce C. Mize of Martinsville, one brother and sister-in-law, James D, “Jimmy” and Sharon K. Meeks of Collinsville, Godfather, Roy L. Adams of Bassett, nephews, Nickolas, Mich and Jacob Meeks and step-niece, Zoey Collins, several Aunts, Uncles and numerous cousins.

A Celebration of life service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 15, 2013, at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church of Bassett. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of his Godfather, Roy L. Adams, 105 Maid Marian Ct, Bassett, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to help defer expenses to Joyce C. Mize Memorial Fund for Roy Chris Meeks C/O Carter Bank and Trust.

Collins Funeral Home of Bassett is in charge of arrangements.

This is Jimmy, Chris's brother I would like to thank everyone for their comments, cares, and support. This is the hardest thing me and my family have ever had to face losing our special love one like no other Chris please keep my mom and Joyce in your prayers because it has been really hard on all of us. I am Truly Sorry for everyone's Great Lost .Chris is my best Friend here and after. I Miss him so much. He changed my Life Living and has changed it again leaving on his new Journey. My Special Condolences go to the 2 women in his life.(life partner and so much more) Joyce Mize who was everything to him and to his Mother Diana who he cared for deeply.
