Steve was born on November 3, 1951 in Henry County, Virginia. He was the son of Noah Joseph Janney and Ida Lee Meade Janney. In addition of his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Marie Minnick. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from Bassett Printing Company.
He is survived by a sister, Rita Janney Huffman, two nephews, David P. Gray (Bethany) and Logan J. Huffman, great nephew, Colton Conner Gray, cousins, Robin Franklin, Kim Compton, Judy Smith, Tim Vaughn and Joe Vaughn (Connie) and Uncle, Roy Janey
