Virginia Haskins Haskins Blankenship

Virginia Haskins Blankenship, age 78, of Bassett, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Born in Pittsylvania County April 1, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Haskins and Viola Mattox Haskins.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, William H. Blankenship, brothers, James Earnest Haskins, Benjamin Kermit Haskins, John David Haskins, and sisters, Eddie Haskins Blankenship, Mae Chism Robertson, Bessie Elisabeth Barbour, and Annie Doris Moore.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, and for 30 years, Virginia owned and operated the Fairlane Beauty Salon at Bassett Forks. She retired from the accounting department of Bassett Furniture Industries.
Surviving is her daughter, Linda Kanode and husband Kermit of Martinsville, two sisters, Emma Gladys Barbour and Janie Hattie Moore, both of Altavista, a grandson, Michael Scott Chitwood, a great-grandson, Ryan Scott Hedrick, two step-granddaughters, Cynthia K. Brodie and Teresa K. Pendleton, and three step-great-grandchildren, Jenna Lynnette Pendleton, Nicole Pendleton, and Zachary McCabe Brodie.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett with Minister Lawrence Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:45 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
