Walter " Tommy" Aaron Lavinder, 78, of Bassett, VA, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016. He was born in Rocky Mount, VA on November 28, 1937 to the late Edwin H. Lavinder and Dotsie Hudson Lavinder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Virgie Hall and Rachel Hancock.
Mr. Lavinder is survived by his sisters, Nancy Turner of Bassett, VA, Janne Lavinder Carson of Sax, VA, and Gracie Gray of Avon, NC; brothers, Kavie Isaac Lavinder of Bassett, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett, Va. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
