

Wayne Henry Hodges, 71, of 1088 Reed Creek Drive, Bassett, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at his home. He was born in Bassett April 19, 1939 to the late Tass Henry Hodges and Garnet Stanley Hodges. Mr. Hodges served with the United States Army in Korea from 1958 to 1960 . He was the owner and operator of Virginia Carolina Tractor for more than ten years and retired after more than fifteen years in sales with Mitchell-Howell Ford which later became Nelson Automotive. Mr. Hodges was a member of Fort Trial Christian Church and Beaver Hills Golf Club.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby I. Hodges. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Shelvy Hodges of the home; one daughter, Jeanne Millett of Collinsville; one son, David Wayne Hodges of Martinsville; one sister, Judy Nutter of Roanoke; one brother, Douglas Hodges of Myrtle Beach S.C.; a special sister-in-law, Ruby Cagle of Burlington, NC; two grandchildren, Zachary Millett and Kaitlin Hodges and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett Chapel with Ministers Lawrence Harris and Wesley McCarter officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors provided by the Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in the Collins-McKee-Stone Bassett Chapel and other times at the home.
