Guadalupe "Wally" Garcia

Guadalupe Muñoz Garcia, Jr. passed away on August 13th, 2015 after a brief illness at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 63. Guadalupe was born on January 3rd, 1952 in Weslaco, Texas to Cecilia Muñoz Garcia and Guadalupe Garcia Sr. Although he lived most of his life in Weslaco, Texas, he and his family moved to Bastrop, Texas in 1994 where he and his family resided until the time of his death.

"Wally" is preceded in death by his brother Johnny Garcia. He is survived by his parents, Cecilia & Gaudalupe Garcia, his wife of 45 years, Angelita “Angie” Sanchez Garcia, one daughter, Melissa A. Garcia-Rios, and three sons, Guadalupe Garcia III, Joe Garcia and Joel R. Garcia. Also surviving are his grandchildren who he treasured, Bianca J. Rios, Christine A. Rios, and Joe Vincent Garcia, his mother-in-law Olivia G. Sanchez & several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many friends.

Guadalupe was a friend to all, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had a very strong work ethic and continued to work until the time of his illness. He had a passion for fishing, barbecuing and "fixing things". He was a skilled mechanic, maintenance man, obtaining a professional license in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and a truck driver. His last endeavor as a truck driver was his chosen profession. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow truck drivers, especially his time working with his son Joe and nephew, Jesse Sanchez Jr. His most current employment was working for JWF farms in Bishop, Texas.

On behalf of the Garcia, Sanchez and the Molina families, we would like to extend our thanks to Christus Spohn Hospital staff, our friends and relatives for their great kindness shown at the time of our struggle. We would also like to give special thanks to Faske Farms, who were like family to "Wally”. He will be greatly missed. We know the world has lost a tremendous soul, but we know that he will continue to share who he was with all those that have greeted him in heaven.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Relay for Life and American Cancer Society in loving memory of Guadalupe M. Garcia.

The Celebration of Guadalupe's Life will be at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop,Texas. A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm with the celebration service at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
