Leslie James Hunter

Leslie James Hunter was born October 28, 1949 to Vel C. Hunter, Sr. and Ethel Hunter in Bastrop, Texas. Leslie was a member of Mt. Rose Baptist Church and often attended Macedonia Baptist Church. He attended Emile High School in Bastrop, Texas and Oxnard High School in Oxnard, California. He joined the United States Army in December 1967. He received an honorable medical discharge in 1971. Leslie departed this life December 23, 2017 surrounded by family. He was affectionately known around town as “brother Les”. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his sister, Sandra Sue Hunter-Reed of Bastrop, Texas, his brother Vel C. Hunter, Jr. of Bastrop, Texas, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, a special cousin, Shirley Ann Thompson of Bastrop, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends. Leslie will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceeded in deadth by his parents, Vel C. Hunter, Sr. and Ethel Hunter.
