Every so often i come on here and take a look at my grandmas photos and memories that people have left of her. I love keeping her name and memory alive. I wish i had gotten more time with her to get to know her more. But i do feel that she is with me and that makes up for it in a way.  I love when my dad talks about her and tells me old stories. His smile lights up and becomes infectious. I cant wait for my dad to tell his firstborn grandson all about you. And for you to watch them from up above.  We love you deeply Grandma Lona.

I've tried to think of the perfect thing to say about my dear friend Lona and have been at a loss, since there really isn't any way to truly describe such an angel.  However, I will say that the world is a much better place because of her, and so is Heaven.  We love you................till we meet again...........

CUPID SHOT AN ARROW AND GUESS WHAT IT DID PART,
THE SKIN OF MY CHEST AND WENT DEEP INTO MY HEART.

THE FEELING IS AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE FLIGHT OF A DOVE,
WE BOTH HAD THIS FEELING, SO WE KNOW THAT IT IS LOVE.

THE TIME IS HEALING THOSE EVERLASTING PAINFUL SCARES OF DEATH AND HURT, AND WE THANK THE LORD FOR GUIDING US TO BE TOGETHER WHILE STILL HERE ON EARTH.

NEITHER OF US FROM OUR MEMORIES SHALL EVER EVER STRAY, BUT RATHER SHALL WE CHARISH THEM AND REMEMBER THEM EVERYDAY.

WE MUST PLAN FOR TOMORROW AND NOT LIVE THE PAST, BUT HOLD TO EACHOTHER WITH A LOVE THAT WILL LAST.

SO HOLD MY HAND AND WALK WITH ME THROUGH THICK AND THIN, AND LET OUR LOVE GROW , BUT NOT FORGET WHERE WE'VE BEEN.

Dear Lona and Uncle Tinker
 
I just want to tell you that I was so glad Daddy, Roger, and I were able to attend your wedding.  I can still picture you , Lona, in your kitchen all dressed up in your pretty dress and so nervous and excited about going into the yard and walking down the aisle. And, Uncle Tinker, you seemed pleased that the "other side" of your family came from Calif. to share your special day.  The two of you have been such a joy and happiness to each other and enriched these past years for each other.  In spite of your usual sense of humor and upbeat attitude, I can't even begin to imagine what this past year has been like for you.  Just know that you gave each other all that you could, and the world has been a better place because of you. 
  
I have greatly enjoyed both sending and receiving cards over these past few years.  Most people I send to never respond,  and your cards, Lona, are always so much fun to receive.  What a fun hobby it has been for both of us!
 
You are both in the hearts of so many.  I'm sorry there is nothing I can do to ease this pain for either of you.  I love you, Mary

A bright light has been dimed, but will light up heaven and its surroundings.  The CPA group will miss you greatly.  We will hold "Tinker" and the family in our prayers. Tinker and family
I am heart broken to loose my favorite cousin who brought me so much joy.  I miss her daily emails and funnies.  As sick as she was she sent me numerous emials wishing she could take away my cancer and make me well.  Your angel is now up there dancing but she is also watching us.

Dear Lona's Family

Lona will always be in our hearts and you will be in our prayers.  She leaves behind a empty space in our daily lives.

I will remember her dancing with her walker at the Queens Royal convention in Elgin.  She was a real insperation to me and many others.  I never saw Lona with out a smile and a friendly hello.

We will all be looking to have her greet us at heavens gate with that wonderful smile.

I'm so sorry for the suffering she must have endured.. However, I am seeing how much love, support, wonderful family she has.  My heart goes out to all of you. If she were here, I would attend her funeral.  Sweet sweet lady and beautiful.  I'm sorry.

Lona -- Oh God I will miss you soooo much! Many times I didn't really feel like going to our Red Hat Gatherings, but then Lona made it all worth while with her laughter, courage, hope and love that I came away feeling oh so much better. I'm thankful her suffering is all over and she is with God.  She has brought so much joy into the life of all who knew her & will always remain in our hearts.

Tinker and Family, You are in my thoughts and prayers. Lona always took the time to say hello and chat with people. Her stories about she and Tinkers antics would always make you laugh. You will be missed.

Dear Sweet Lona,
  I miss you so much already.  You and Tinker were our first friends here in Bastrop and were so sweet to welcome us into your circle and we are lucky to be friends with such a truly sweet couple.
  I will always remember the day I found your welcome gift basket attached to the gate between our homes and I knew then that we were backdoor neighbors.
  I loved sitting with you and watching you make the beautiful necklaces bracelets for your friends and family.  You would get so excited when the postman would deliver a new package of beads and what fun we had looking at them.  I will treasure the beautiful necklace you made for me dearly.
  You are a true angel among angels.

Lona was a very special woman, always had a smile on face. I remember how her and my mother in law, Jean, Tinker's sister, used to sit and drink coffee and watch my kids play their precious little goats. They would laugh and laugh together. I am so glad she is at a place where she can breathe well and is no longer in pain. God rest her soul.

Dear sweet lovely Lona:

Forever THANK YOU for your grace, spirit, poise, creativity, inspiration, laughter, light, beauty, wit, courage, dignity, friendship, care, devotion, fire, & feistiness!  I prase God I was blessed with the opportunity to know you ever so briefly.

My most heart felt prayers for comfort to family & friends who stay behind in this reality, while you go to your home in heaven.

I will not miss you, for I will carry your inspiration within me where ever I go.

Lee and I treasure our "Friends Christmas" get togethers and birthday celebrations and wedding celebrations with Lona and Tinker, Dorothy and Dick, Flora and Virgil and Charles and Mary Ellen. We always have so much fun together! I never saw Lona that she wasn't smiling and happy! Lona always had gifts for everyone, she made Red Hat notebooks and baskets filled to the brim with nifty little treasures. Lona always dressed to the hilt for her Red Hat sisters. Lona had so much love in her heart, we're going to miss her so much.

I found this picture of Lona and Tinkers wedding day.

"Loony Lona" was a total delight.  She and Tinker were a delightful couple.  I knew first Lona, then Tinker only briefly and saw them only at a rew conventions of the Tea Leaf Club Internatinal and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the time which I spent with them.  Lona was full of fun, loved to "dress up" in some of the wildest of costumes.  She brought, and shared, not only smiles but a great deal of raucous laughter to those of us who knew her and loved her at Tea leaf Club International conventions.  She has been missed in recent years and will continue to be so missed.  My condolences to Tinker and her entire family as well as what must be a very wide coterie of dear good friends.

Lona and Tinker were our neighbors in Bastrop, they helped us out so much with their love, and being just good friends.  She was a wonderful  woman, wife, and mother and grandmother and a friend to all.   Met her at a garage sale, and we had such a good time trying on her hats and making fun with lines from different movies
that we became friends from the start.
She had a nack with makeing something out of nothing, painting, poems, cooking, collecting her tea leaf china and her love for the Red Hat club she belonged to.
Being with her was a true experience on her love of life, she will be missed by many.
May God shine His light on her and bring her to  His side.   We love you Lona

Tinker and family...Lady too!
There aren't enough words to tell you all how much Lona meant to so many of us that were not family.  Lona made everone she met part of her family and shared all of herself with us.  I sold her some Tea Leaf cups and saucers 10 years ago and we never stopped emailing and sharing jokes with each other.  We even exchanged notes from our Corky to Lady and back.  Such silliness seemed so much fun but most of all, I appreciate her willingness to give all her love, happiness and even sad news to those of us who were in her family.  My prayers are for you Tinker and the rest of the family as we all know where she is and how much those that preceeded her are enjoying seeing her again.  Our turn will come and I will look forward to seeing Loony Lona once again.  Love always and ever to you.

I only met Lona recently as a Red Hat sister on Facebook but wish I could have known her personally. She seems like such a lovely person. I'm sure she will be missed terribly.

I went to high school with Lona many years ago, in Kansas City, Missouri.  Lona was a year older but we were in a sorority called Kappa Epsilon Gamma together.  Lona was witty and always seemed to be happy.  Years later I found Lona again, on Facebook, and read of her battle with cancer.  I was amazed at the way she handled telling everyone; dignified and full of grace.
Heaven is surely enjoying her presence and her beautiful upbeat manner.
I admired you, Lona, for your way of handling things.
Just two days before her death, she posted on Face Book, "this is so sad"
I am sure she knew how near the end she was.

    my big sister there is no words to tell you how much I will miss you, you took care of me when I was little and never did stop taking care of me you always let me know when I was out of line and always praised me when ya seen I needed a spirit up lift.you use to call me your devil child  but through the years it became your pet name for me it was special to me and still is . Lona will be greatly missed.  I will miss her smiling face and her wonderful child like innocence.  She found so much joy in whatever she did.  I will remember all the good times we had,singing in the rain, thrift shopping and the night we went to the police department where our husbands were at a meeting and we sang Christmas carols in our red and purple outfits.  I am so glad I was fortunate enough to say I love you.  Rest in peace dear friend.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

   Lona was a special lady to all the Red Hatter not only in Central Texas but she reached out to the world via this Universal Red Hatter Exchange and Facebook where she make friends with soooo many. 

My first memory of Lona was exactly 6 years ago when she came to a performence of the "Big Purple Undies" in La Grange.   The show was so funny.   But when Lona surprised us all by joining us on stage hiking she skirts and showing us, her BIG SATIN PURPLE UNDIES WITH LACE ON THEM.   She brought the house down with laughter.   The laughs and inspiration she gave us all will go with us forever. 

She came to visit me for lunch over the years.   One day she brought me a chicken that layed eggs and cackled like a hen she had found at a garage sale.   She said she knew I would give it a home.   I gave Lady Cluck a bath in perfume and dressed her in a Red Hat and bling.   The next time Lona came she brought her mascot doll and we took pictures of them together.   We had more fun that day. 

Lona, I know you will not be seeing a stranger in heaven. All our Red Hat sisters that has preceded you will be waiting to welcome you. So you keep them laughing with your cheerful antics. We will all see you there one day. I will always remember and love you my dear friend.

Lona taught us so much -- how to love, how to laugh, how to enjoy live.  She was a light in the world to brighten the lives of all around her.  She will be missed.  Our prayers are with all her family and friends.
