Born to a farming family, she grew up where she was born in the Corn Hill area of Texas near Jarrell. She passed from this life at her home on October 13, 2011 at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Zett, a Navy man, whom she met and married near the end of
World War II. Together they raised four children who survive her: William Zett, Jr., Janice Zett, Jeanette Stephens, and Nancy Zett all of the Austin area. She is also survived by four grandchildren: David Williams, Jennifer Locklin, June Small, and Suzanne Herzberger. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren: James, Kyle, Tyler, Lexie, Ray, Joseph, Rachel, Sarah, Jackson and Lily.
For sixteen years she served as an attendant at Austin State School. She passed her love of gardening, cooking, baking and sewing to her children and grandchildren. She loved people and kept her family close. She was a source of strength and optimism in times of difficulty. She was a woman of deep and abiding faith who shared her love of God with her family.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to Marlene, Virginia, and Barry of Robinson Creek Hospice Care who gave comforting support to Lorene and her family. Also a very warm and special thanks to Jovita who gave her time and love during the long days of our goodbye.
