Mary Ruth Cruise

She was born in Moody, TX on October 31, 1921 to Stella Ann (Cowley) and Claude Tuttle Brockette.

Mary received a B.A. from Southwestern University in 1943 and married William Hollis Cruise, Jr. on June 1, 1946.

As the wife of a career Navy pilot, she moved her children throughout the United States until retiring in Fairfax Station, VA.

Her husband and a son, Kenneth Bryant, preceded her in death. She is survived by five children Bill and Liesel of Pearl, TX; Bert and Leslie of String Prairie; Keith and Sue Ellen of Smithville, TX; Claudia of Occoquan, VA; Colleen and Joel Shipley of Banner Elk, NC. She was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Her visitation took place on October 5 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home; funeral service was held on October 6 at First United Methodist Church in Bastrop. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at 10:00am, December 6, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Bastrop or Capitol Hospice of Austin.
