

Odie was born May 10, 1950, in Belton, Texas to G. W. Drake and Doris Shorwell. He grew up and was raised in Red Rock, Texas.
He proudly served over 45 years with the Bastrop Volunteer Fire Department. During his time with the Department he served as assistant fire chief for about 4 years. He was a leader and a teacher to a lot of the young firefighters that joined over the years. He joined the Department at the age of 16. He had wanted to join so badly that his Mother had to sign her permission for him to join. He served 3 years in the U. S. Army where he was stationed in Vietnam.
He was proceeded in death by his son, Otis Drake Jr., his parents G. W. (Shorty) Drake and Doris Shorwell Brookshire, and step-father Durwood Brookshire.
Odie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bettie Drake; two daughters, Tina Drake, Taunia Karrick and son in law Daniel; son Otis (Trey )Drake; four grandchildren Amber Wither spoon, Hunter Drake, Alison Karrick and Nevaeh Drake. His is also survived by a brother Charles Drake of Ft. Worth, a number of children that called him Dad and many grand and great grandkids that called him Paw Paw.
He will be missed and loved by so many people.
Serving as Pallbearers will be the Bastrop County Firefighter's Association Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.
A Celebration of Odie's life will be held at 10:00am on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas.
