
Ada Louise Jones Rich was born April 5, 1919, in Fairfield Community, Grant Parish, and passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. She was the youngest of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles G. and Tilina Reynolds Jones; and all of her siblings. Survivors include a daughter and husband, Betty R. and William G. Palmer; a son and wife, Robert W. and Agnes Rich; three granddaughters and their husbands,Donya R. and Lee Bruehl, of The Woodlands, Texas, Jean P. and Peter Savigny, of White Plains, N.Y., and Stephanie R. and Stephen Hebert, of Walker; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Ada retired as an administrative officer with the U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Division, then worked for the Cosmetology Board and as manager of an insurance agency. She was an avid 4-H Club member in school, winning many awards and distinctions; including winning top prize for making the "best party dress in the state," which is now housed in the Textile Museum at LSU. She was awarded a trip to Chicago for her record-keeping and was chosen as one of two girls in the state to go to 4-H Congress in Washington, D.C. Ada was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 2 p.m. until the religious service at 4 p.m., conducted by Dr. Terry Ellis, of Broadmoor Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at Fairfield Cemetery in Grant Parish on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Stephen Hebert. The family thanks the staff of Williamsburg, Heritage Manor, Life Source Hospice, Dr. Brian Gremillion, Dr. N. Joseph Deumite, Dr. Thomas J. Heigle and Lynn Pennington for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
