Addie Lou was a graduate of Walker High School where she played basketball for the school. Addie Lou went on to marry William “Bill” Hancock Sr. and raise her 3 children. She worked at the LSU Bookstore for many years until she eventually retired. She was an avid traveler, going all through the states and out of country. Addie Lou is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the American Legion of Denham Springs.
She is survived by her son, William Joseph Hancock Jr.; daughter, Mary Lou Garrett (Wayne); granddaughters, Anya Denee Garrett Victor (Joe) and Andria Renee Hancock Yates (Jason); great-grandson, Lance Fisher Yates; great-granddaughter, Natalie Elizabeth Victor; brother, Donald Lanier (Lois); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, William Joseph Hancock Sr.; son, Bobby Roy Hancock; parents, John S. Lanier and Geneva McDowell Lanier; sisters, Camille Stafford, Lois Anderman, Quinnie May Tyler, Lorena Flethcher, Etta Bozeman, Lora Cutrer, Janie Carroll, Verna Theriot, and Kay Fairburn; brothers, Huey Lanier, A.S. “Jr.” Lanier, and John Henry Lanier; and daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Daigle Hancock.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, beginning at 9:00 AM, with a service to begin at 10:00 AM at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jason Yates, Lance Yates, Phillip Anderman, Charles Cutrer, Randy Fletcher, and Steven Garrett.
