

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She passed away at her home peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at 9:30 p.m. Agnes was 89, born in Orange, Texas, on June 29, 1922. She later moved to Baton Rouge and attended Istrouma High School. After high school she met and married her husband, Chester Guidry. Agnes was very involved in the lives of her children and her church. During her life she served as a Cub Scout den mother, Altar Society member, room mother and as a volunteer cafeteria worker at St. Anthony Catholic School and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. After moving to Central she became an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 14, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Chester J. Guidry, of Central; daughter, Patricia and husband Jessie Gill, of Central; son, Richard and wife Joanne Guidry, of Zachary; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Ada Sallier, who were of Orange; a granddaughter, Karen Eliane Guidry; and two great-granddaughters, Tyler and Jessica Guidry. Pallbearers will be Richard Jr., Dean, Kenneth and Chet Guidry, Jeff Gill and Josh Rea. Honorary pallbearers are Nicholas and Dylan Rea.
