Allen Dominic Crochet Sr.

Allen Dominic Crochet, Sr., age 92, passed on to his eternal home on June 28, 2024. Allen was born on October 4, 1931, in Morganza, LA. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1958 with a degree in Art Education and Social Studies. He married his wife of 64 years, Barbara Ann Olinde on January 30th, 1960. He was Art Instructor at Livonia High School in Livonia, LA from 1958-1979. In 1979, he retired from teaching to pursue his career as the professional artist, A. B. Crochet. He was a well-known and active artist up until his passing. His wood relief paintings of all things in Louisiana culture will be cherished for generations. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church. He was a faithful, hopeful, and loving man. He was generous and humble, always with gifts of his artwork for friends, family and even strangers that would soon become friends. He was preceded in death by his children, Cynthia Ann Crochet and Bartley Joseph Crochet; his parents O’Neal and Ludivine Crochet; and his siblings: Lawrence Crochet, Eddie Crochet, May Sackett, Ella McLemore, Clarence Crochet and Doris Oubre. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Olinde Crochet; his children and spouses, Brett and Diane Crochet, Yvette Crochet and Allen and Amy Crochet; his grandchildren, step-grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Victoria Crochet, Jesse Crochet, Jeremy Crochet, Jessica Poret and Jordan and Lindsey Minton; his great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren Audrey Crochet, Vivian Crochet, Robert Minton and JD Minton; and special friend of the family, Sabrina Gonzales.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 9:30 AM-11:30 am with a rosary at 11:00 am at St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 am at St. Alphonsus. Interment is scheduled following Mass at Greenoaks Memorial Park with reception to follow.
