Al was a gentle soul who loved spending time with his family, listening to music, and enjoying a
good meal. He found joy in life’s simplest pleasures and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh or a moment of connection with the people he loved. As a member of the Arc of East Ascension, Al found a community that meant so much to him.
He cherished participating in “Special Tuesday”, “Dancing for a Cause”, and the many holiday celebrations they held each year. These moments brought him happiness, friendship, and a
sense of belonging.
Al is survived by his older sister, Susan Estes Pearson, and his younger brother, Clifford Howell Estes (Katherine Fleniken). He is also survived by his nephews, their children, and grandchildren:
James Patrick Carter (Faye Anderson); James’ daughters James Carter and her son Roman, and Mia Carter; Richard Roberts Carter and his daughter Savannah Carter.
His nieces and their children also survive him:
Susan Elizabeth Estes Bourgeois (Micah) and their sons Jayden, Julien, Brooks, and Cameron; Peggy Katherine Estes and her daughters Morgan and Juliana; Connie Victoria Estes Andrews
(Kyle) and their sons Lucas and Kobe, as well as extended family member, Judy Watson Andrews.
Al leaves behind family members who loved him deeply, friends who cared for him, and a community that embraced him. His gentle presence, warm smile, and loving heart will be missed
by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russ and Clara Sue Estes, and his brother-in-law, Daniel D. Pearson Sr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the members of the Arc of East Ascension for the kindness, support, and care they provided to Al throughout the years.
Services will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA., on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 10:00 am until service time of 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
