"Alvin James "Jim" Casper, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the age of 76. A native of Milwaukee, WI and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, he was a veteran of the United States Navy as well as a 40 year employee of Harnischfeger (P&H). Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Reckard Casper; three children and their spouses, Jim Casper (Jean), Heather Jahnke (Ross), and Peter Casper (Ginny); eight grandchildren, Nick Casper, Julie Casper, Jake Casper, Benjamin Jahnke, Abigail Jahnke, Elizabeth Jahnke, Josie Casper and Dylan Casper; a sister, Joy Marks; and a sister-in-law, Edlegard Casper. Proceeded in death by his parents Alvin and Sylvia Casper, Sr., two brothers, and a sister. A celebration of life will be held at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge on May 20, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jim to the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge.
