He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Anne Hough (John); sons, Kenneth Alan Jervey and Ronald David Jervey; four grandchildren, Jeremy Hough, Erin Greenwald, Nicholas Jervey and Amanda Wycuff; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years; son, Timothy; parents, Gertrude Agnes Bean and Alvin C. Jervey, Sr; and brothers, Carl and Donald Jervey.
Alvin attended Bishop England High School and Palmer Business College of Charleston, SC. He played drums in the Charleston Symphony and the Charleston Concert Band. Alvin served in the esteemed Washington Light Infantry prior to joining the US Navy with his brother Carl. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Although a realtor for many years, he spent most of his career developing incentive programs for insurance and banking institutions. He was a notary public of South Carolina whose commission expired upon death.
He was a member of Broadmoor Methodist Church for fifty years and served his community as President of Circle Civitans, President of Fairwood Estates Civic Assn and President of the advisory board of Ochsner Health 65.
Alvin was a champion bowler (American Bowling Congress 700} and a repeat LA Senior Olympics gold medal winner in table tennis. An avid landscape designer and gardener, his designs may be found in friends' and neighbors' properties throughout Baton Rouge.
Upon retirement he took up the art of magic and was a member of the Society of American Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He performed his stage act for many churches and veterans and nursing homes. He found great joy in doing card tricks for friends and family - especially the children.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, at Broadmoor United Methodist Church (10230 Mollylea Dr) at 9 am until funeral service at 10. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
