

Polito, Annie CascioA faithful daughter of the Lord, she served and honored Him as her Lord and Savior. Born May 15, 1922 and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge she passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015. She is survived by children, Carol P. Schweitzer, and husband, Steve, Fisherville, KY, Stephen C. Polito, Lake Charles, Dr. Charles Ray Polito and wife Charlotte, Chipley, FL, Charlotte P. Musso, Betty Jo P. (Reed) Decou, and husband, Gene, Erwinville; grandchildren, Keith (Michelle) Schweitzer and Jason (Jessica) Schweitzer, Louisville, KY, Charles J. Polito, Maurice, and Stephen D. (Jessica) Polito, Lake Charles, Kelley P. (Tony) Sasso, Tallahassee, FL, Amy Musso, Brittany R. (Joey) Grasso, Saugus, MA, and Christopher Reed; great-grandchildren, Adam, Ashley, Lauren and Avery Schweitzer, Charlie and Danielle Sasso, and Stephen L. and Isabella Polito; a cousin and lifelong friend, Anna Mae Laporte, and husband, Thomas; and a cousin and longtime neighbor, Cathy Caruso, and son, Andrew. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and a graduate of Baton Rouge Business College. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Patrick parish. She was a former longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy parish where she was a member of OLOM Parish Council, Altar Society, Bereavement Committee, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Thirty Niners Club, several Rosary groups and Catholic Daughters Court St. Louis #1816, where she received the Catholic Daughter of the Year Award. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and friendliness to all she met. Her greatest joys were cooking and baking, caring for her home and family, her faith, and conversation over a good cup of coffee. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bessie Miceli Cascio; husband of 48 years, Kelly J. Polito; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jones Polito. Special thanks to Mary Newell for her loving care and friendship, Nita Vincent, RN, and Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Visitation will be Saturday, January 17th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Ln, from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am celebrated by Rev. Matthew C. Dupré and assisted by Deacon Pete Walsh. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
