

"A retired Borden Chemical Senior Lead Operator with 34 years of service, Anthony passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was 77 and a U.S. Army veteran. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Thursday, March 23, from 5 pm until 8 pm. Visitation resumes at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 9:30 am on Friday, March 24, until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am celebrated by Rev. Mike Maroney. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Anthony is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 51 years, Naomi Browning Messina; children, Kelvin (Dana) Messina, Blaine Messina, and Stephanie (Roy) Dudenhefer; grandchildren, Claire, Ansley and Camille Messina, and Easton Dudenhefer; sister, Lena Langlois; sister-in-law, Sylvia Hunt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anthony was a graduate of Baton Rouge High and loved his family, faith and LSU. He was a kind, hardworking man who never met a stranger. His hobbies included making Blessed Virgin Mary statues "“over 400 made-, gardening and BBQing. His family would like to thank the caring nurses and staff at OLOL and BRGH and Dr. Gerald Miletello and Dr. Andrew Guidroz for their kindness and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Grace Messina; and brother, Joseph Messina.
